lamp lust

I saw these lights at my most recent visit home in Anthropologie - forever my favorite store and also my past and again soon-to-be place of work (it's opening on South Granville on May 13th). I have a feeling that I might soon be trying my own DIY version of this.. I think I might be able to get my hands on a saw. I'll let you know if I actually follow through with it...

christmas buzz

Last weekend I got to go out with some of my friends from school...we chatted, had fun, drank some bellinis (as you can see! I, however, had wine) and just had a fun night out! I will not tell the details of the evening other than i had a little too much wine... but that's besides the point.

[ This is a fairly haggard picture and I wish you could see my belt...it's a cute studded camel leather waist belt ]

Since then (a week) I have been at home finishing projects, doing homework and studying. I've been trying so hard to get into the Christmas spirit...but it's hard without family, friends and loved ones around - that's what this holiday is all about! SO, to try and fill the void of being alone, I went on "Homes for the Holidays" Christmas House Tour (all the proceeds go to Kid's Help Phone) and then came home only to blast even more Christmas music and decorate the apartment. I came up with all of these ideas myself...can you tell?!

[ oyster shell filled with pine scented potpourri, voluspa candle and urban outfitters candle ]

[ my little 4 ft. xmas tree and poinsettias ]

[ these candle sticks and place mats came with the apartment (aka: mum's). I bought this sleigh and decided to fill it with pine cones and glass ornament balls ]

[ on the dining table I got 2 square vases and filled them with more glass ornament balls ]

There's a few more things here and there - garland on the railing and a woven star hung with ribbon in the window - but it's nothing crazy! I found pretty much all of this stuff at michaels for great prices (they were having a sale!). I hope everyone is having luck getting into the Christmas spirit. I know once I go home, I'll be doing lots of baking, wrapping of presents, and spending quality time with quality people.
