dress up

This past weekend I was lucky enough to head home again, and I had a great weekend. I love being in a new city and experiencing all the things I get to, and most of all meeting all these wonderful new people... but sometimes you just need to go home to visit those people that you love and care the most for. I went to a 50th Anniversary party with some very special people and got all dressed up... & who doesn't love doing that?! This weekend I was keen to adhere to the fall fashions with burgundy tights and some earthy tones:

inspiration

Today in class we were talking about inspiration and how we derive it from so many different things - for example - a song, different pictures, a place, or just a feeling. Different things inspire different people because of where they came from... my inspirations may be different from someone who grew up in the 60's. That's what makes all these things in our world so unique, and I love that. I've always kept a file on my computer of pictures of things that I was drawn to, and here's just a few:

happy canadian thanksgiving!

The long weekend is over and I have to say, I'm sad to see it go! Although my weekend was extremely busy and I got very little sleep, I had a great time. My whole extended family and my loved ones came up to Edmonton (as did I) and we had a fun-filled and busy weekend. I hope everyone got to give thanks this weekend just as I did!

Fox, Fluevog & Friends

About a week ago, my mum and I went to the Museum of Vancouver to see the exhibition on "Fox, Fluevog & Friends". Peter Fox, John Fluevog and Ken Rice were collaborators, trend-spotters, businessmen and artists. The museum featured 150 shoes, some even dating back to 1968! It was interesting and inspiring to see the original work from such unique and creative individuals...my pictures aren't too great, but hopefully you'll get a taste of these 3 talented men.

[ my favorite thing: on each store front they post the quote, "no, you're weird." Their quirky shoes are definitely different! ]

How embarassing...I wish I had someone to help me out with outfit posts/pictures! Anyways, this is the best i could do. This weekend I was lucky enough to have my friends from Edmonton come and visit me. I got the chance to show them around my new hometown and we had some awesome weather which made the walking around a little easier (the blisters however, did not!). I also got the chance to go out with some of the girls from school and we had a lovely time. It's great getting to know new people! We all got dressed up in our heels and hit the town. While this weekend was lots of fun, I'm looking forward to going home next weekend and seeing all those people whom I love and miss. And I'm excited to eat lots turkey of course!
